12 oz can, no date, but canned in 2019, served in Prairie Rastal glass, a treat from Hinda65.
Pours a dusty rusty brown with a creamy beige cap of 1/2 finger, receding to a thin ring eventually.
Aroma of stiff molasses, caramel squares, grape candy, vanilla, more caramel, slight cocoa, and oak.
Flavor is a little acidic and empty to start, and then it fills itself out on the palate with vanilla, whiskey, charred oak, caramel, and a hint of molasses. The finish is grape candy or grape slushie, with caramel and smoked vanilla.
Feel is thin and cutting, almost paper thin in a way, with some flat carbonation but a lively alcohol burn that prickles and stings like carbonation would. Hot finish, drying, slightly sticky.
Overall, coming across more like a barrel aged scotch ale, this one was quite enjoyable. Wasatch always has work to do when it comes to their beers, but this one was more enjoyable than most. I was surprised to not get much pinot out of it and instead got grape candy, but it is enjoyable all the same.
