a: dark brown in color, low head and light retention
s: pretty simple - moderately malty aroma that's a mix of nutty and fruity, maybe comparable to a dense brown ale, crisp and earthy hop profile
m: medium bodied, carbonation light-medium and a bit prickly
t: nutty and darkly fruity malt body, maybe some brown sugars, lightly tilted towards the sweet side with an earthy hop bitterness
d: a little average, but easily drinkable

On tap at Churchkey the other day. CK had a number of this brewery's beers on tap as it turned out.
The beer pours a fairly dark gold color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose I get some light clove, coupled with some honey and citrus. The beer doesn't smell bad at all, and so I was a bit let down by the flavor profile. Initially I get some honey flavor, but then very quickly it's overwhelmed by some moderate hoppy bitterness. In fact, the finish is quite dry as a result, and is fairly short. This beer is just somewhat lacking in the flavor department, and seems a bit simple. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, but as noted before, the flavors drop off pretty quickly. The alcohol is pretty well disguised, but given the lack of flavor, it's hard to call this beer very drinkable.
Not very impressed with this one. Subsequently was advised that contrary to what the Churchkey menu stated, this was not the 9.5% x-mas version of this beer I was tasting. I have to confess that something in the 6% range seems much more realistic.

Appearance: A murky shade of brown, sort of like a watered down cheap coffee, the head was brown and thin.
Smell: Nutty, caramel and even leathery nose, with light alcohol finale with a faint mint-like hoppyness. Very interesting!
Taste: Sugarplum sweetness, medium body, the booze is tamed and comes with a cinnamon-like freshness and a warm feeling down the throat without ever being hot. It was quite refreshing and I enjoyed this a whole lot, it showed a good amount of balance and subtlety, sort of a loose interpretation of the style but who cares, it's good.
