Pours a nice dark reddish-brown color with a bit of murkiness. Off white head that comes with the pour but doesn't stay around for too long. The nose is quite smoky with a bit of peat and meat. The flavor brings on the peat and the smoke. Nice combination and done well. Nice feel and quite smoky. Good and reminds me of a nice family barbeque.

Smoked lager, at Festival Bières et Saveurs 2009.Light brown colour, with big soapy white head. Served too cold.Average at best mouthfeel, some smoke of course in the aroma. A good lager and smoke was not too much, but not that drinkable, a glass was too much.

Brewed in collaboration with Loup Rouge, a soon to open brewpub in nearby Sorel. The brewer told me they will make collaborate brews every once in a while. Interesting!
Appearance: Good looking amber, somewhere in between copper and bronze, with a thin and steardy white head.
Smell: Obviously the smoke is dominant, more of a firewood aroma rather than hickory or bacon. Some residual fruityness towards the end.
Taste: The peated malt really shines (98% smoked Bamberg malt the brewer told me) without going overboard, it stays crisp and remarkably refreshing. Smokey finale with just a faint bitter hoppyness at the very tail end. A fantastic and quaffable brew, not as rich as Schlenkerla (spelling?) but that's not a bad thing. Paired up perfectly with the salted stringy cheese and homemade beef jerky.
