This beer is a hero and support of the citra hop, giving it an able defence of taste and malt backbone. Yet the cat p element arrives in the room warmed finish. On tap at WVRT tap takeover (served too cold initially). Light grapefruit coloured body and lacy

The pour is a light, hazy gold...and at my DC Metro bar, the head was fairly thin and retained poorly without much lacing to speak of.
The nose is surprisingly bland. It has the sweet smell of bubble gum and some banana. And it's much more grainy than hoppy. There is some bland lemon and very mild clove in the bouquet that also is noticeable in tastes. This beer is rather light on hop character, overall. Even with big gulps it's hard to find much grapefruit, resin, or spice apart from white pepper. The malt is really the highlight here; with time in the mouth and even more with warmth, a dominant hazlenut flavor emerges.
This chewy brew coats teeth and lips, fills in buccal crevices, and slides thickly down the back. It's not the mouthfeel I want from beer, in general, but it's rather unique and does complement the Filbert flavor well.
My initial impressions were not good, likely due to the dearth of hoppiness that I expected, instead, to be showcased. But it grew on me. It still needs more bitterness and acid to balance the nutty sweetness.
I can't help but wonder if the keg for my pour had been sitting a while...

On tap at Mule Bar. Served in a tulipy glass.

Appearance - Big white head. Sticky lacing. Medium retention. Hazy orange body.

Smell - Citrus hop. Grain. A bit of esters. Belgian yeastiness.

Taste - Bright citrus hop. Grain is less potent, but slightly sweeter. Belgian esters more prominent in the finish. Slightly bitter.

Mouthfeel - Medium light body. Very drinkable.

Overall - Pretty tasty. Well crafted and flavorful.

Tasted at the Mondial de la Biere in Montreal:

Cloudy, gold color. Some lace. Nearly no head--settles to only rim lace.

Pleasant grapefruit rind hop aroma.

Plenty of white pepper to the finish. Little malt flavor. The carbonation is moderate; the body is similarly neutral.

On-tap at Volo.

Beer is a very cloudy yellow colour. Very small white head- almost none.

Smell is strongly citra focused. Cat's pee, citrus scents. Sticky and weedy.

Taste is quite biiter. Citrus fruit (grapefruit sticks out), with a strong weedy component. Herbal. Surprising to me that it is an all-citra hopped beer.

Medium bodied, moderate to high carbonation level. Oily.

Overall, not bad but a bit disappointing in my view.

Half a pint on tap at Vices & Versa, Montreal.

Relatively pale body with snow-white head and a beautiful lacing left on the glass. Aroma is very fruity (mango, tropical fruits) and floral. A lot of fresh hop in there! Taste is herbal, floral and features the same fruitiness as the smell. Very smooth on the palate with a good carbonation and a medium bitterness. Overall, another great success from Trou Du Diable, well balanced and delicious!
