On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a cloudy goldenrod to light orange with a small white head, some spotty lace.

S: Notes of yeast and pepper with a light funk.

T: Direct yeast flavour with some sourdough bread. Yellow apples, but still a very dry overall flavour driven by the yeast with a noticable earthy hop attack.

M: Light-bodied overall, a crisp refreshing beer in its own way.

O: A good Belgian single, not the best example of its style, but this is something to enjoy in mid-June.

Lightly hazed golden orange colour, one finger of fluffy white head, fairly good lace as well here. Smell is spicy with a nice orange and yeast presence, fairly fruity with lots of tropical notes, green apple and banana, very fragrant for being so light in ABV. Taste is dry and yeasty, orange, apple, earthy banana flavours, fruity and with a light but pronounced bitterness. High carbonation, dry and a bit biting at times, medium body. A really good light alcohol-big flavour beer, carbonation a touch higher than I like but other than that there is not much else to complain about here.

On tap at Bar Volo. Cloudy deep yellow, lacey. A tad funky aroma. A dirty blonde. Carbonation is set on high side, still very drinkable blonde somewhat table Belgian ale. A pleasure on a spring day. The carbonation offsets the otherwise smooth mouthfeel. A junior sidekick to the regular Buteuse.

On-tap at Bar Isabel during the Trou Du Diable takeover.

Beer is golden in colour with a minimal white head. A slight bit of lace.

Relatively faint smell. Belgian yeast, some light fruit and a touch of honey.

Very light flavour. Light fruit (a bit tropical) with some honey. Yeast gives a bit of a spicy character. A bit of sweetness, but finishes dry.

Light bodied, moderate carbonation.

Overall, decent but a bit light in the flavour department. Certainly pales in comparison to the proper Buteuse, and especially the barrel-aged version.

Thanks to hoppypocket for this.

Poured from a 500ml. bottle, bottled 01/12.

Appearance: A mild haze shows in a pale gold body. There's at least 4 fingers worth of pure white foam that drapes itself on the sides.

Smell: Lemon meringue, spices, breezy, leans on the floral with citrus fruit and mild dough.

Taste: Healthy dose of citrus fruit, mineral-like hops and a tinge of salt. Simple flavors.

Mouthfeel: Satisfying, crisp, refreshing, a bit dry with spunky carbonation

Overall: I liked it, very easy to drink but found the flavors could have been dialed up a bit. Still, it's an ale worth trying.

Bottle dated Jan 2012. Thanks to BlogueDeBieres for the chance to try this one.

Slightly hazy orange color with a two finger bone white head. Great retention and a nice curtain of lacing.

Spicy Belgian yeast aroma with coriander and lemon. Bready malt flavor is slathered with citrus and spice from the seamless contributions of the yeast and Cascade hops. Juicy up front leading to a long bitter finish.

Medium body with good carbonation. Tasty and refreshing.
