The Schieve Tabarnak! is a light, hazy blonde beer with greenish highlights. Brewed with rye and a selection of atypical hops, which includes Nelson Sauvin for bitterness, it has a very floral scent reminiscent of roses. The taste progresses in three distinct phases. As the beer enters your mouth, you can feel the rye, followed shortly thereafter by the fruit aromas, which culminates in a very long finish, leaving the drinker wanting for more.
The first part of the name stems from a Brussel curse word (Schieven architeckt!, meaning twisted architect). The expression was originally invented by the Marolliens who accused the architect Joseph Polleart of blighting the neighborhood with the construction of the massive town hall. The Quebec curse word of course speaks for itself…
Available in 500ml bottles from Le Trou de Diable in Canada and 330ml bottles from Brasserie de la Senne in Belgium.

I rarely give 5 for the look but this one is just perfect looking. Nice light straw color, pretty cloudy, with lots of carbonation visible and a gorgeous 1.5 inches white foamy head.
Good smell also, at first it's hoppy and yeasty, really herbal aromas. A little bit of green apples in the nose also as well as some rye aromas.
Really solid taste, definitely Belgian in flavor with the yeasts but the rye bring really another element. The hops are more flavorful than bitter which makes it really easy to drink. Dry and fruity finish.
Nice mouth feel for a Belgian beer, a little bit heavy but it's to be expected from Belgian pale ales.

Pour is dark amber with a tight white head. Nose is earthy and grainy with a moderate peppery spice, leathery brett, nice farmhouse notes. Flavor is a bit thinner, dry finish, somewhat malty, nice grain and farmhouse notes. Peppery in back, nice tang. Light body soft carb, easy drink.

500 ml bottle at volo, poured a bright yellow gold, clear and crisp with a decent lacing.
S- lemon drops and slightly spicy yeast characyer, pine needles, light fragrant florals, raspberry, a bit of malty sweetness but also a strong hop character.
T- smooth yeasty character, with strong lemon, pale malt with a rustic grainy note and yeasty barn notes. A fairly pronounced earthy hop character that transitions into a drying finish, crisp and full. Tasty very Belgian pale, pronounced yeasty bite with an earthy, moderately bitter edge.
M - crisp and refreshing, really tasty with a moderate body and hefty carbonation, leading from a full robust flavour to a crisp yeasty dry finish.
Overall a quite tasty Belgian blond, balance is pretty much on point. Aroma is quite but the taste is full bodied, subtle hop character, and a tasty yeasty malty complexity. Tasty blonde, full flavoured and worthwhile.

Thanks to iguenard for this CanBIF inclusion, a nicely flavourful Belgian IPA and not one I've ever seen on my own rare trips to Brou Ha Ha.
Pours a clear, pale golden colour with hazy sediment near the bottom of the bottle. A bright white head disappears quickly with little residual lacing. Aroma is yeast-forward and very Belgian, but the flavour profile is more rounded with fruitiness in the body and a nice hop bitterness to the finish. The Belgian elements remain pronounced, but blend well with apricot and other stone fruit tones.

Hazy light blonde colour, white head with little to no lace. Smell has lots of belgian yeast, lightly spiced, coriander, light hopping and a fair amount of fruits in the nose. Taste is spicy and yeasty, coriander, orange and citrus, hops add a mild bitterness, a bit of zesty lemon and clean in the finish. Medium carbonation, crisp feel and light-medium body. Very nice and incredibly drinkable, nice hopped up belgian pale that was great on a hot day at the festival of beer.

Lightly hazy straw yellow, two fingers of white head with real thick lacing and heavy retention. Nose is somewhat hefeweizen like, some banana, wheat a hint of spice, lemon and yeast. Some citrusy notes as well. Taste is hoppy, drying, lightly tart and yeasty. Toasty pale grains, a little more lemon and light citrus zest. Assertive herbal bitterness in the finish. Fairly light feel and gentle carbonation. A very decent and refreshing hoppy Belgian pale ale.

Had a glass of this at the Trou Du Diable event at Wvrst in Toronto. Collaboration with De La Senne.
Beer is cloudy golden. A decent sized with head with excellent retention.
Sweet malt in the nose, along with honey, light fruits and Belgian yeast. Nice scent.
Taste has bright tropical fruits, yeast, some alcohol (surprisingly, given the low ABV), a bit of peppery spice. Sweet but with a fairly dry finish. Good.
Medium bodied and moderate carbonation.
Overall, very good! Belgian Pale Ales are not always very exciting but I was happily surprised by this one. Very flavourful.
