Purchased and sampled in its home town of Pavlodar, this brown 1/2 liter bottle sports a light blue and gold label featuring a coat of arms and 1876 (year of the brewery's foundation) above the name. There is no ingredient information. Best before 6/14/06, I opened it on 4/3/06.
Pours a clear deep gold under a ½ finger white head with decent retention and a few strands of lace. Mild, smooth grainy malt nose, perhaps a bit too watery. Fairly prickly mouth that sits rather heavily, but nonetheless clean. Good grainy malt opening, sweet but natural. Hops emerge slowly but surely, dry and bitter, but not at all harsh. Smooth, sessionable brew, worth trying.
