Purchased and sampled in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, this brown half liter bottle has a silver and white label featuring a horseman streaking across the steppe, with mountains in the background. The name means “nomad” in Russian. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 3/29/06, I opened it on 4/5/06 (oops, but not by much).
Pours a clear gold under a one finger white head that sticks around quite well, leaving some nice lace strings and spots. Nice spicey hop nose with a touch of grape. Very prickly and light mouth. Good malty opening reminds of fresh bread. Mild hoppy bitterness lurks behind, more dry than metallic. Aftertaste is quite mild, with just a touch of bitter. Nice sessionable brew.
