Reviewed from notes taken in Summer 2014:
On-draught @ Oluthuone Kaisla.
HEAD: 1 finger's worth of width. Off-white in colour. Has a nice soft complexion. Nice thickness and frothiness. ~7+ minute head retention. No lacing adheres to the glass' sides as it recedes.
BODY: Clear translucent yellow colour of above average vibrance. Looks more like a pils than a pale ale. Clean and filtered.
AROMA: Pale and helles malts. Floral hop aromatics. A kiss of tropical fruit - mango, maybe?
Clean and fragrant, yet light in terms of intensity.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, undercarbonated, perfumey, spritzy, and soft. Somewhat refreshing.
Not crisp, as the aroma suggested. Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.
Suits the taste okay. The undercarbonation of the beer is a problem.
TASTE: Pale malts, floral hop flavours, grassy hop flavours, maybe even some Saaz hops, barley, and clean helles malts. Balanced but basic. It's a very simple pale ale build. Not a gestalt harmonious whole of a beer.
No overt yeasty notes or off flavours are present, nor is any overt booze.
OVERALL: Middle-of-the-road but drinkable. A pretty hum-ho pale ale. Not unique or special. I wouldn't get it again, but I suppose it's slightly above average.
