poured from 500ml bottle into imperial pint glass

A-nearly black with about a finger of tan head that fades quickly but leaves a little lacing

S-starts with some dried dark fruits prunes & figs mostly then has a hint of licorice and dark cocolate

T-similar to the smell sweet prunes up front with some chocolate hidden on the end

M-low carbonation makeing it a little thin and watery

O-not a bad beer, but nothing spectacular either, it says baltic porter on the bottle so I was looking forward to a little smokiness but it just wasn't there and it seemed a little fruitier than I was expecting

16.9oz dark brown bottle. Freshness date on label. Served in a nonic pint glass.
A pitch black liquid rests beneath a thick foamy tannish head, with loads of sticky lacing.
A smell of strong coffee rises at first pour, followed by smells of dark chocolate, licorice and floral hops.
The flavor profiles mirror the aromas, almost to a tee. Speaking of tee, I mean Tea. A taste of strong black tea edges forward, as does a slightly citrusy bitterness.
The body is thinner than it appears, but this is normal for the style, so no harm done.
This is a very gulpable brew!

A: The beer is jet black in color and poured with a finger high tan head that died down into lacy patterns of bubbles.
S: There are aromas of coffee and roasted malts in the nose.
T: The overall taste is quite malty and has flavors of chocolate, cola, licorice and roasted malts. There is a slight amount of bitterness that lingers through the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit watery on the palate and has a light to moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is quite drinkable, although a little more bitterness would make it more balanced.

500 ml. from Premiere Gourmet. Very good porter, roasty in nose, black wth an inch of white topping (that shrinks to 3/8"). Above average body, good amount of bitterness, little chocolate, officially baltic style but not sour, just all-the-way well balanced. Lovely.

A: Poured from a bottle to an imperial pint glass. Had a dark brown/blackish color and a thick texture. There was an inch of tan-colored, foamy, long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A very subtle, underplayed aroma of malt, chocolate, and licorice.

T: Basically, it tastes like it smells. Malt, chocolate, licorice, and possibly some dark fruit. Surprisingly, no coffee presence, but still a nice flavor.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth, dry finish. Medium-bodied.

D: This a very drinkable beer, though not it's not always in the classic porter style.

Black in color with a light mocha head that is wispy and barely manages to cover the surface. Sweet malt nose. Thick and chewy mouthfeel is a nice surprise. Sweet malt flavors with touches of smoke and some chocolate in the finish. It almost seems like there is a presence of licorice in the beer, but I think it could be undertones in the nose that make me think that. Tough to say. Only faintly smoky. Prety good beer. I think I started out with it a little too cool as it improved and grew more nuanced as I left it out to warm.

Pours deep brown/black with a firm tan head. Nice lacing and good looking.

Nose is sweet tobacco, sweet coffee/dark chocolate, molasses and burnt carmel. Complex and layered.

Mouthfeel is thin and a bit watery. Little character and no richness whatsoever. Mouthfeel is very disappointing after a nose that really promises.

Flavors are assertive and aggressive and bold, but simple and somewhat single dimensional. Flavor is simple dark roasted grain, burnt black coffee with no finese or character.

Bitter chocolate but the all around thin mouth really hurts this one. Long bitter espresso finish.

There are simply too many other similiar beers to go back to this one.

500ml bottle bought online from The Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam

Poured deep dark mahogany brown when held up to the light. Mocha tan head poured pretty thick and foamy with a bubbly top then faded quite quickly to decent coating with thick edging... some light patchy lacing...

Aroma - Lots of lightly roasted chocolate malts, toasted bread, dark sweet fruits (stewed plums, blackcurrents), dark brown sugar sweetness, roasted nuts, light burnt toffee, fresh vanilla, mocha coffee notes, light allspice, some treacle notes...

Taste - Lots of milk chocolate notes, toasted bready malts, nice treacle sweetness which is balanced by light spicy and peppery hop bitterness, prune and date fruitiness, toasted nuts, milky notes, coffee with brown sugar...

Feel - Smooth and creamy with a little bite just coming through... a very sessionable brew especially at only 5.5%.

Overall - An incredibly well balanced and drinkable Porter... definitely recommended...

Almost black, with dark mahogany reflexes. One finger of beige head, average compactness.
Toasted malt, definitely a porter. Smooth, with a hint of burnt in the back.
The taste is relatively calm, and even better than the smell. Round, smooth, even here a bit of burnt in the back,, with some hop-
Green hop in the aftertaste, and again the burnt note.
Great smoothness.

A dark brown beer with a small head, which creepes back to the side of the glass to form a small off-white layer of foam on the glass.

Smell of chocolate and roasted coffee and cacoa. A good maltbitterness. Some earthy hops.

Taste is roasted and has less maltbitterness than the smell would suspect. A good roasted coffee taste that taste like black malt. Hops are bitter and add some hoppiness. Body is medium and there is a little stickiness. The yeast does not give a very pronounced taste, maybe a little fruity, but mostly clean.
