Bottle: a great, solid brown 500mL bottle with a decent country-style label with fantastic detail including location, date brewed and bottled, and plenty of in-depth info on the beer specs.

Appearance: looks brilliant. A light and cloudy deep straw yellow with a great 1.5cm head, good retention and lacing. Decent carbonation visible.

Aroma: aromas of apples, thick biscuit and bread malts and definite, good quality wheat.

Taste: wow. Light apple, amazing quality wheat and some light biscuit and breads. This is a fantastic, easy-drinking beer. I could definitely have more of this.

Aftertaste: just as good, lingers for a long while with the full flavour profile.

Mouth feel: moderate in feel with a moderate carbonation that carries the flavour well. Very drinkable.

Overall: one of the better beers I have had to date, and particularly one of the best Aussies. This one is worth tracking down if you can. I think it's AU$90 for a case at the moment, which under the circumstances is a bargain. A brilliant, brilliant beer.

Excellent beer from one of the best breweries in Australia

aroma - sour citrus/apple and spice with some spelt grain and a slight yeasty aroma

taste - tart, lemon citrus, apple with slight herbs and spices along with slight malt and grain with a nice refreshing sourness

Full of flavour, refreshing and a type of beer that we don't see enough of in Australia. This brewery is doing great things down in Tasmania.

 

Appearance: Golden yellow with a thick white head. Head lasts for an average amount of time, and leaves persistent lacing down the glass. This beer is bottle conditioned, and so was a bit cloudy.

Aroma: Fresh wheat and fruity spritz, followed by mellow malt and a bit of woodsy floral tones.

Taste: A sweet grainy malt that is quite light, a bit of sourness on the tongue, and some hoppiness. Initially the balance between the sharp, sour, and bitter wasn't very balanced, but I think this was due to accidentally pouring some of the yeast sediment into the glass. Once I had left it for a while, it mellowed down quite considerably, and was much, much better. A large amount of the malt in this beer is from Spelt, but not having any beer that features this grain before, unfortunately I can't really comment specifically on its contribution.

Mouthfeel: It was thicker on the tongue than expected, and somehow managed to be quite creamy whilst still light and refreshing. Good amount of carbonation, and quite clean.

Overall: Initially I was disappointed, as the balance was all wrong, but this was due to the amount of yeast sediment accidentally poured into the glass. Once it had settled, the beer was much more enjoyable, being light and refreshing ale with farmhouse aspects. There was enough complexity to keep me interested until the end, and sad that I only bought one bottle home with me.
