The bottle says Camra Approved Real Ale. The yeast sediment confirms this.
A_Pours a rich black which reveals itself to be brown when held to the light. The head starts out small but actually gains height sitting in the glass and settles in as a nice cap.
S_An inviting mix of roasted malt and chocolate which slightly veers towards the charred path.
T_The same roasted chocolate character shines through here as the main flavour. The charred bit comes through slightly at the end as a light ash. There is a bit of coffee and a nice dose of vegetal hops. The yeasty character comes through a little bit at the end, slightly phenolic.
M_Velvety and rich with a low level of soft carbonation.
D_An easy drinker. The label lists it as a stout porter but it seems to me to veer more towards the latter.
