Served at the Bangor location into a mixer glass.

Pours an amber color with hints of orange. Poured with no head whatsoever. Aroma came through with hints of fruitness from either esters or hops and hints of caramel from the malt. More likely the fruitness was yeast derived from the English style yeast they used. Some the aroma, although probably typical for style was underwhelming.

Flavor was less so. It was like drinking caramel flavored water. There was no body or real flavor to speak of. I might as well have ordered a water. The scary thing is that this may have been intended to encourage more drinking. It's only drinkable because it has no real flavor either.

Overall this is another failed beer from Sea Dog. It seems that the only good beers that they make hide behind hops or specialty malts. With a pale ale there's not much to hide behind and it is very apparent in this beer.

The beer pours a nice gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a fine pale malt scent along with a moderate hop bitterness and a light yeast aroma. The taste is good as well. It has a bitter hop flavor along with a solid pale malt base. It's easy drinking with a bitter, dry finish along with a touch of yeast esters. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an excellent session ale. It's brewed much like a standard APA; the recipe simple; the hop character pronounced. Nice job.

Bangor Pale ale available on tap at the Bangor location. This pale is a malty and refreshing ale. It is light amber in color with a full head. The taste is sweet and smooth with a slight bitterness that balances it off. This is fresh and easy to drink brew.
