Is this different from that old "red" Amstel we used to have back in the 90's? The answer is yes: the "good" old Amstel used to be their Euro Lager (which sucked), this green one is their Premium Pilsener and it IS different! This one - although could fail perhaps as a real Pilsener - is something of a Pilsener like an American Adjunct would be to a Lager. It is clean, crisp, yeast-less, neutral in taste and easy to drink. It is as good as it gets. It is best to be served ice cold on a hot summer day - and no wonder Dubrovnik was full of this in the summer of 2017. It was freakin' hot.

Label says it's brewed at a Pivovarnea Heineken subsidiary in Russia. Despite the "Amstel Brouwerij" and "Amsterdam" on the front, but that's very common.
Golden pour, tiny white head for just a while.
Smells grainy, a touch of malt sweetness, a bit of skunk and some grassy hops.
Taste starts with sweet malts, some caramel and (a bit weird) some dusty cocoa powder, faint as it is. Some grains, not as skunky as it smelled, prickly mildly bitter finish from some spicy hops.
Light bodied, fizzy, a bit dry. Still, some sweetness lingers in the aftertaste.
Very unbalanced, not too close to a pilsener, but a drinkable lager in the end.
