Like the classic 169 locomotive, this brew is rich in character, dark, and smooth. The Denver & Rio Grande engine retired in 1938, yet this unique stout keeps her memory alive on the tastebuds of beer and train lovers today.

Ol' 169 pours almost black in color with a nice rich tan head, quite dense like that of a nitrogenated beer. Decent clarity even though it is almost black.
Smells of burnt malts and coffee grounds.
Very bold roastiness. I taste hints of chocolate, espresso and a slight nuttiness. Slightly astringent like that of over sparged husks. Very nice coffee like aftertaste.
Fairly thick mouthfeel, kind of slick but not as creamy as one would expect out of an oatmeal stout.
