Alright kids, this is my first attempt at a review. So here we go...
I did the usual sampler and here are my tastings.. I should highlight that it was difficult to get the aroma off the beers with the small glassware (typical for a "sampler").
Hef - Not my favorite Hef (Sudwerk), but pretty damn good. Nice citrus, and a smooth finish.
Lager - Too smooth, and I couldn't really discern any distinct flavors. However it is easy drinking.
Amber - Very similar to the Alaskan Amber, but fortunately less sweet and more aftertaste.
ESB - Drank more like a light IPA. Something didn't sit right. Let me try the IPA to see if they got the beers switched...nope...not the IPA.
Pale - Yum! Hoppy yet smooth. It does have a rough bite at the finish, but that could be me. Very good pale.
IPA - Nice hoppy aroma (yeah, you could smell it). Very hoppy flavor, too (duh). Has a sweet finish. Kinda reminded me a of a double IPA at 7.1% ABV and 70 IBU.
Location - I was on my way to Iron Springs Brewery in Fairfax to enjoy their fine Altbier I had at the Marin Brew Fest a few weeks back, but as I passed Rafters in San Rafael, I decided to just stop there. To be left alone with my tasting, I put my ring on my left ring finger, but that apparently didn't work. I was picked up by a 47 yr old gay guy. I was flattered however, and we had a great conversation about local and world beers.
Otherwise the environment is very typical for a microbrewery. Casual atmosphere.
