Pufnstuf's appeal, which you might think lies in the hops, actually results more from the grain malts we use to support the assertive hop character. Pilsner, Munich, Oats and Dextrine malts play well here.

The balance is silky and assertive. Pufnstuf strikes at the heart of drinkability making it our flagship beer.

Poured from a undated can

Golden yellow/orange opaque appearance. Fluffy above the glass rim head, good retention, foamy cap layered lacing.

Aromas of caramelized malts, piny notes, grapefruit rind and citrus

Taste is nicely layered, roasted malt and hops are balanced, grassy, citrus, grapefruit flavors do not overwhelm each out. Hint of spice and caramel, I got a bit of a buttery note.

Mouthfeel is prickly of the bat, some sticky feel, tartness. Medium carbonation, crisp feeling with an earthy feel. Lingering astringency. Chewy

Overall it’s a crisp refreshing beer, billed as an east coast IPA but outside of the opaque appearance it’s more west coast old school IPA feeling. Pretty easy drinking and relatively low abv.

Pours a clear golden color with a short lived head. Pleasant, hoppy aroma is inviting. Even though this says East Coast IPA on the can, I think it's more of a West coast IPA. Not juicy - and that's a good thing, but pleasantly hoppy and bitter. Subtle malt backbone balances things out nicely without being sweet or overbearing. I'm really enjoying this beer and would definitely buy it again. Nicely done!!

Can from Julio's
Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a decent sized bubbly white head. Sweet bready malt and candied citrus fruit aroma and flavor. Canned in Feb so not exactly fresh but a tasty old school IPA.

16 oz can into IPA glass. No date.
Look is fairly cloudy golden orange. Smell is citrus mostly orange. Taste follows nose and has bitter ending, grapefruit/pine. Feel is fairly light. Overall a fruit top with a west coast ending.

Had plenty of beers from this place way back in the day before i was reviewing. Thankfully Dave now brews for Flying Dreams and I get to have his beers all the time now. However, my first beer from them since Dave left, and my first review. No canning date
Pours a huge frothy foamy almost 3 finger head that fades semi slowly, whispy lacing, very hazy golden tan slight honey orange color

Surprisingly not bad for a mosaic based IPA, some dank pine resin but no onion/garlic like, light generic tropical and citrus, lemony notes, otherwise no specific fruits, mild grassy spicy piney, malts are mild sweet toasted amber almost caramel like. Actually a touch of oniony note later as it warms

Taste brings a bit of sweet toasty reddish malt, not much, just enough to balance the hops, which start off with a little citrus, grapefruit, meyer lemon, lots of citrus rind especially, mild pith, with a little bready malts, little generic fruity, light lemony too, then hops turn grassy and spicy, a little earthy herbal, thankfully no onion or garlic Mosaic even as it warms. Moderately high bitterness, especially on the dry finish with long lingering spicy slight earthy and citrus rind bitter hops lingering, higher end bitterness late

Mouth is medium to a bit fuller bodied, nice carbonation

Overall not bad, more West Coast and a bit old school IPA style, but with a nice citrus, great hops, decent malt enough to support the hops, not much else going on, a flash of the dank onion Mosaic on the nose but otherwise good hop profile, a decent enjoyable old school WC IPA

Gold color and clear. Good starting head that settles to a film of suds. Streaky lace.

Lightly sweet with a floral hop background. Attractive and subtle.

I like this beer a lot; it has a wonderful balance and subtlety to the flavors. I get (sweet) berries up front with a depleted malt dryness. The hop, while not biting, enhances the "brut" experience in the swallow. Higher than typical body and carbonation. Soft but lasting bitter aftertaste.

Poured into a 16 oz pint glass on draft at The British Beer Company in Massachusetts. Pours a fairly dark yellow slightly hazy, has a solid two finger sticky white head that leaves wisps of lace behind.

Smell is papaya, guava, pine resin, earthy hops, and grapefruit rind.

Taste follows a nice balanced beer, tropical upfront with some earthy floral hops and grapefruit in the pleasant finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, plenty of carbonation, not dry, and excellent drinkability, hard to not drink fast.

Overall this really good, I had a Singlecut Billy Half Stack before and this guy held his own.
