One of the more clear beers from GAH. The color is warm, dark amber. Again, excellent head and lace like all of their beers.

Modest citrusy hop aroma. Attractive, but unusual for the style.

The flavor continues the strong-than-expected hop. As a hop head, I'm not complaining. This is a tasty beer. The body is higher than most alts, but the carbonation is spot on. Another easy-to-drink beer at Gardner.

I recently tried this beer at the Craft Brewing Fest in Boston and it was just an okay beer. There were not that many alt beers offered at the festival so I purposely sought this one out. I came away with a beer that I thought was decently balanced but whose flavor was rather mild, consistency a bit watery, and the hops made no statement. I was looking for the "there" there and didn't really find much to comment upon. There was a bready malt texture to the beer. I will of course review this beer in a more contemplative setting to see if my view on this beer changes.

Bar chalkboard has this at 5%.

Pours a dark amber almost auburn color with a 1 finger off white colored head. Airy bubbles contribute to the nice retention. Lacing down the entire glass. Sweet caramel malt notes with hints of fruit. A bit light in the nose.

Biscuit malt with sweet caramel notes. A tad bready also. Floral undertones get a bit drowned out by the sweetness of the malt. Floral leafy hops in the aftertaste. Medium bodied and quite smooth on the palate. A nice session bier.

First off, this is Oma's Alt, not Opa's...

I had a pint of this, and Alewife 3x on our lunch visit today. Pours a becoming clear, copper hue, with scant carbo within. Head was light tan, and quite frothy, though only at about 1/4". It lasted well, and left a lovely lace trail behind. Nose was quite mild, with some traces of malt and a bit of hopping. Too mild, though. Body was medium, and Oma went over the tongue fairly smoothly.

Malt flavor checks in, with a sort of crystal-like lean to it. A touch toasty, with mild sweetness. Floral hops come forth, in a dry, crisp finish. Light on the fruitiness, with a fair malt/hop balance. Somewhat bitter, in the end. Decent in general, for a not-too-easy style, imo.

Prosit!
