Wow, another Massachusetts brewer that has the courage to brew lagers and a brewpub at that! Gardner Ale House has actually brewed several lagers since they opened.
Brilliantly clear stunning gold color, lots of small bubbles racing to the top, which helps to keep the head nice and fluffy. Clean nose, more fresh grain than hop with a bready and faintly herbal aroma. The crispness shows some depth as it rolls around and struts the moderate body of this brew. Hop bitterness reach a pretty sharp bitterness but not without the maltiness trying to reach just as far. Quick kiss of cooked veggies in the middle. There is a graininess that borders husky but herbal tones from the hops overshadow that for the most part. Finishes on the dry side with lingering grain and hop.
A satisfying lager that makes you wonder why a brewpub like this even servers those few popular domestic beers. Educate your consumer to realize that there are choices like this and they may not want those few popular domestic beers anymore.
