Served in a snifter at the Gardner Ale House.

Appearance: A small off white head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a crimson brown color with some clarity, but hard to see much of anything else.

Smell: Caramel, toasted, bready, grainy, nutty, lager yeast, Noble hops, a little warm alcohol, and some dark fruits.

Taste: Same as above. Great traditional doppelbock flavor profile and tastes like it was made in a German brewery.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium to full bodied, a little warm booze, medium

Overall: Nice doppelbock. A little heat, good liquid bread qualities, and very enjoyable.

Enjoyed this excellent beer at the Gardner Ale House today. Noticed it's not listed on BA yet, so I am happy to add it to the database. I'm a little confused as to why it hasn't been added since they list this as winning a 2007 Bronze Medal at the Great International Beer Festival.

Not much head forms on the beer that is a very clear maroon/burgundy color. No lacing remains and there is little/no lacing.

Aroma is a nice spiced caramel, which makes itself evident in the flavor later. Very nice.

Really a wonderful beer. A deep caramel flavor with some nice spice notes. I'm not saying it tastes like spices are added, but there is a wonderful depth to the flavor here. A nice roasted nature to the malt along with a sweetness that balances well with the sense of the alcohol.

Very smooth feel and a fairly bold body. A warming sense from the 9% abv

Drinks very well and is just a great beer to explore. Well done Gardner Ale House.
