Bottled and sadly clear glass
Pours a rusty red body with off white head that completely disappeared

A 500ml clear glass bottle with a BB date of Feb 2012. Picked up cheap from a supermarket - never heard of this before and thought I'd give it a whirl. It seems to have been brewed for St. George's day (patron saint of England), and the label mentions the use of 4 different grains.
Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear coppery-amber hue with strong carbonation. Yields a decent off-white head that lasts for a couple of minutes before collapsing to a thin layer of foam. Fairly muted aroma - roasted malt with a hint of hops. A distinctive overlying buttery odour makes itself known.
Tastes of nutty, roasted malt. Burnt notes and a hint of caramel, along with a mild bitterness. No obvious hoppy notes. Faint presence of butter, although more disguised than in the aroma. Mouthfeel is smooth but a little watery; leaves the palate slightly dry. Aftertaste of roasted malt.
An OK ale, but won't knock your socks off. The burnt/roasted flavours are a bit stronger in this than in some of their other brews, and the presence of diacetyl on the nose is unwelcome. Has that distinctive Shepherd Neame background flavour. Worth having at the price I paid for it, so will probably pick this up again.

Purchased at the Lidl supermarket, coming in a clear 500ml bottle, BB Feb. 2012, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass. Notes: the ingredients include malted barley, oats, rye and wheat, on top of Goldings hops.
A: dark amber in colour with extra red-ish hues, lightly carbonated, coming with a well-lasting off-white foamy head.
S: Goldings hops spring to mind, in abundance, along with sweet pale malts, a touch of saltiness, citrus, and caramel. Simple but still nice.
T: a very light-bodied swallow of malts, salty&sour-ish palate and chewy hops is followed by plenty of bitterness, which lingers until the end. The aftertaste shows light saltiness as detected on the nose, while all in all the flavour is very clean and slightly too straight forward, while the lingering dry-ish palate adds a few more positive points to the overall mundane performance.
M&D: the flavour profile reminds me a bit of the same brewery's Master Brew, but not as hoppy or tasty. This light-bodied pale-coloured bitter can be drier and more bitter if served on cask, but the mixture of different malted grains doesn't seem to do much in creating a distinctive flavour profile.

Bought this at Aldi if I recall correctly. Bottle has minute BBE date on neck (seven months ahead). The beer pours somewhere between copper and brick red with a fairly generous, slightly offwhite head. The nose is very grainy, brown bread with a hint of chocolate.
Indeed this is very much a brown bread sort of beer. A sipper with a savoury biscuity flavour backed with just enough hoppy bitterness to give it a rather metallic finish. This is good stuff if you've only paid a pound per bottle.

The aroma has more malt than hop esters, a faint caramel/toffee smell hides the hops almost completely.
The taste is again, like the smell, more malt flavours than a hop content. Malted Barley, Oats, Rye and Wheat are all used in the brew, a later hop bitterness appears (Goldings) to balance out the beer.
This is one of the 'Master Brewer's Choice' selection of beers, pleasant but no world beater. Most likely a lot better in cask form.
