Nut brown with a loose taupe head that's gone in a flash. Steely grain, slight soil and red apple skin on the nose.
Toasted brown bread, apple sauce and kibbled wheat up front with very decent spice and earth hops.
Slight toffee cake and carob finish and lingering tingle. Thin, watery and limp.

I was prepared to dislike this more than I do because of the many disappointments SN has delivered in the past. But this is no worse than, say, Leine Nut Brown: some of the right flavors in muted amounts wrapped in a too light body. This, actually, fits right in, because both companies are similar: macros in craft clothing.

Not one for me, but not strictly bad, either. I'd give it to BMC drinkers as a autumn gateway seasonal.

Purchased at the Lidl supermarket, coming in a clear 500ml bottle, BB 09/2012, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass. A Halloween beer this is meant to be.

A: chestnut to russet brown in colour, coming with low level of fizziness and a thin beige foamy head to last.
S: rather fruity on the nose, showing hints of citric hops and berry-ish fruitiness mingling well with lightly nutty, toffee-ish brown malts and biscuity pale malts. Not too sweet, as the sourness seems to keep the sweet side on balance. Pleasant yet very simple as well.
T: slightly too effervescent for my palate, the foretaste is immediately dry and yet malty, showing aromatic lightly-toasted malts plus roast malts’ dry palate, backed by a good level of earthy hop bitterness which lends also a wee chewy palate in the end. Not so much fruity on the palate as on the nose, while the taste is not as sweet as the aroma suggests, either.
M&D: the overall mouthfeel is refreshing, not smooth enough, while the body remains medium-light throughout the drink. This malty bitter reminds me of a few other brews by the same brewery, actually. Not much to write home about, yet this ale is pleasantly drinkable.
