Sema’ is a light, blonde easy drinking ale. Our popular staple is hopped with Cascade to infuse a balanced and delicate floral undertone.

A gift from fellow BA RichLightweight, brought back straight from Yorkshire~~ 500ml brown bottle, bottle-conditioned. From the outside the beer looked rather hazy when I received it. But after standing for more than 10 days, it still looks that way and the yeasts dont seem to feel like settling down, but I just couldnt wait anymore. BB Oct. 2006, served cool in a straight imperial-pint glass.
A: pours a hazy pale amber hue, coming with an effervescent, thick frothy head with superb retention, due to good support from lively carbonation. Nice!
S: when pouring, a deep scent of honey-drink and flowery note of hops already cuts through the air taking a closer sniff, the aroma of sweet dried orange, flowery and honey-tea comes with an interesting semi-sharp sourness and musty note at the back, and backed by deeper layer of semi-sweet, creamy Maris Otter maltiness. Aromatic.
T: quite sharp-textured fruitiness hits the palate upfront, quickly introducing a flow of mushroomy+pineapple-ish+faintly piney yeastiness, and a raw, chewy and nutty pale-maltiness, followed by a moderate aftertaste of honey-tea, sour-sweet citrusness and a slightly dryish finish, where bitterness is kept at rather low level.
M&D: overall the palate is simple-structured, yet quite enjoyable. Although the texture is a bit too sharply fizzy for me, it does soften quickly without getting too much in the way for other flavours to come through; the body is medium for its alc. strength, and the unsettled yeasty elements clearly lend much influence to neutralise the supposedly rich fruitiness of this beer. All in all, a rather decent bottle-conditioned ale to quaff. Much obliged to Rich!
