July 2007: On tap in Riga. Cloudy golden colour, moderate head for a hefeweizen. Not served in appropriate glass. Basically a typical hefeweizen aroma and flavour, with strong notes of cloves - but the flavour is somewhat less fruity than many other h.w.s. Nice enough, but the finish is rather bland.

Cloudy golden body with a persistent white head. Looks the part.

Sweet wheaty aroma.

Taste is wheaty a bit of bubblegum and banana.

Highly carbonated and light bodied.

Decent wheat beer.

On 14th Jan 2012 I decided to have a lager/pilsner/helles/weiss beer evening: a 500ml bottle of this beer was taken during that evening. Sadly the bottle was two months past its best before date, but it didn’t ruin the tasting. Poured into a ‘Licher’ badged Weizen glass it looked the part: cloudy, dull yellow/old gold colour with a good solid white head sat on top.

Old school Hefeweizen: wheat esters, banana and vanilla smells and tastes. Add some pepper, lemon flavours, plus a honey melon and you’ve just about got the taste characteristics correct.

Really pleased I found this in an Eastern European store while staying in Cambridge last year, pity I didn’t check the date before shelving it though.
