From notes taken at the Taps brewpub last night, where this pint (and subsequent pitchers) were served far too cold. A decent Ontario black IPA and as it was just released on Monday, a very pleasant surprise for this Taps visit.
Pours a clear near-black, with auburn highlights at the edges of the glass when held up to light. Lovely aroma of roasted dark malts, which are also prevalent in the taste. Well balanced with a decent body and a delightful hop bitterness in the finish. Chocolate and coffee plus roasted and toasted elements add a nice complexity to the taste.
A very nice addition to the Taps line-up.

This style of beer is relatively new to me...
a-pours a black colour typical of a porter/stout, very slight amount of light allowed through the glass. Mocha coloured head...lasting for a while.
s-dark roasted malts...coffee....dark fruit....like prune or raison....hoppy citrus in the background...
t-Coffee...dark chocolates dominate the palate....any sweetness remained in the bouquet...nice hoppy finish...
m-Thicker....like a stout....very nice.
o-Quite good....I'll be getting this again.
