Thanks to sanderson for sending this 375ML bottle…months ago, & it’s been resting unobtrusively in the fridge door every since. It’s finally time.
The pour copper with a bit of haze. Nose is wine, oak, alcohol. Slap a Napa Valley label across this thing & I’d buy it based on the smell.
Olde John Grit City Ale is a boozy mess. Jarring alcohol up front is mixed liberally with liquid caramel & a 99 cent box of wine. Touch of bourbon in the afterburn, faded leather, & oak, though not barrels, more like the chips you buy to put in the smoker. I don’t chew on those. I guess I don’t chew on bourbon barrels either, now that you mention it. Or leather. 187.5ML of this is enough.
Sometimes you screw up & somebody says condescendingly “Well, you did your best.” My response is always “Fuck, I hope that’s not my best.” Apply in a thin layer here. Not very good.
