Served in a shaker pint, One Hop Wonder #4 is a hazy, rusty orange with a small, off-white collar that leaves very light, scattered lace.
Smell is malty, lots of caramel, but with a nice punch of herbal floral hops, not to strong, more pale ale like.
Taste is even very maltier, without a big hop profile for an IPA (although I have to say knowing this noble hop off-shot I didn't expect a hop bomb). There's a very strong bitterness on the finish, and the high ABV is well hidden behind the big mouthful of malt.
Mouthfeel is on the thicker side.
Drinkability is average, this is definitely more a strong, malty pale ale then an IPA by my book. Not a bad beer but not what I was really expecting, I don't like my IPAs this dark and malty. Marketed as a pale, all scores would probably be +.5.
