A stout at just 2%? They must be kidding?
The liquid is clear, the colour is very dark red-brown, almost black. The big beige head slowly sinks down to a finger thick airy head. No lacing.
The smell is strong and very roasted; I found notes of black coffee, roasted nuts and a mild smoked flavour.
The taste lacks much of the body that I normally find in stouts. The flavours are all there; coffee, dark chocolate, salt gravy, smoked ham and a gentle chemical touch of paraffin. But at this low alcoholic content, I maybe ask for too much when I also want some body. The dry aftertaste fades relatively fast, with roasted malt, coffee and liquorice.
The carbonation is medium strong, the bubbles are much lager than expected (I wonder what this beer should be like when put a nitro bottle?). Just a little bit too strong, I might say.
Considering that you could drink this stout when eating lunch or driving, its a surprisingly tasty and bold beer. Im kind of impressed.
