The colour is deep yellow-amber; the liquid is a bit hazy. The high off white head sinks slowly to a finger thick layer leaving lots of lacing.
The smell is sweet and (very) hoppy with bitter notes. Dried apples and apricots, butter, almond cookies, a mild chemical note, some bitter citric flavours and a hint of leaven.
The taste is hoppy, too. Some sweet malt with a slight flavour of wax and cooked vegetables. Some citric notes; grape fruit, bitter oranges and clementines. The bitterness is strong and robust, almost rough: It is a little salty and sour. There is quite a lot of bitterness in the aftertaste as well as lots of alcoholic flavours. I also note some dry grapefruit flavours and hints of peaches, fruit candy and rye bread. It (the aftertaste) is not as clean as I wanted it to be, there are some slight notes that I cannot explain in another way then "unclean". The finish is bitter with some fruit drops.
The carbonation is mild yet fresh; the liquid smooth.
An interesting pale ale with some American flavours, but the flavours isn't as crisp and clear as I want them to be.
