This a new version of PTs Winter Ale made with a healthy dose of Rye in the malt bill.
Poured a light mahogany with a slight reddish tint. There was just over an inch of light-khaki colored head that dissipated at a moderate pace and left moderate lacing.
The flavor is malt dominate with a nice tangyness from the Rye. Not much of a spice or hop presence in the nose. The flavors came through significantly more bold than the aroma had led me to expect. There was the solid malt foundation, with a nice touch of hops, followed by the sharpness of the rye. A tasty combination.
The body was full, solid and well rounded without being heavy. For a beer of this strength, this brew goes down very easily. Having several would be a pleasant way to pass a winter storm here in the PNW. Worth seeking out.
