Visited King Alexandre, which is located right beside but with the same owners. Fantastic food made from fresh local ingredients and some incredible flavors. Curated beer list is huge and only includes great beers (local and imported). Waiters have super great knowledge of their beer list and have great recommendations. Prices are more than fair for quality.

The King Hall is a quiet pub up the hill on King Street West. Nice décor, dark with lots of wood furniture. It spans two floors, the second being smaller and quieter than the first.
The service is generally good, though a bit slow considering that the place is rarely packed.
They have a dozen taps and about 100 bottled beers available on their menu. Basically, they have everything available at the SAQ plus Unibroue and McAuslan. Unfortunately, they have hardly any other Quebec micros. One annoying thing is that they rarely update their menus, and you'll order something and be told that they don't have it in stock. This can happen two or three times in a row.
I go to the King Hall about once a month or so. The main reason I don't spend more time there is the price. Basically, it's the SAQ price tripled. Yes, that means that a bottle of Duvel goes for 8$ (!!). A Samichlaus is 12$ and larger bottles like La Chouffe go for 15$. That means that I usually drink whatever they have on tap, usually St-Ambroise, which comes to 6$ a pint.
A pleasant place to hang out, but not great for a student's budget.
