The Aztecs were seen as superior and dominant in their native land. Mountain IPA’s have the body of a New England with the bitterness of a West Coast. A medley of tropical and floral notes with aromatic tones of pine for an ever so slightly bitter finish. Being single-hopped with one of our favourites, Idaho 7, really makes this brew superior and will dominate your tastebuds!

440mL can from Tesco. BBE 05/11/2025.
Look: 4.25. Bright opaque lemon yellow with a dense white head.
Scent: 3.5. Not much of a scent, either from the glass or the can. Pine resin, citrus, stone fruit.
Taste: 4.5. Like two clashing tides - at one end, a rich and sweet medley of mango, apple, and citrus; while at the other, astringent hops and moderate-high bitterness. Overall a well-balanced profile.
Feel: 3.75. Moderate-high carbonation and a light malt body.
Finish: 4. Lingering honey sweetness juxtaposed with piney resin notes.
Overall: 4.25. Hard to believe all this complexity when the beer only has one hop varietal (Idaho 7). An excellent NEIPA with added bitter character, and a new favourite.

440ml can.
L: Opaque, dark yellow colour with two fingers of lumpy head and some spotty lacing.
S: Pithy, almost dank, citrus.
T: Tropical and fruity with a hint of pine. Pretty basic though. Some dryness emerges over time.
F: Very soft but also a tad thin.
O: A very ordinary NEIPA. Not much of the ‘mountain’ bitterness touted on the label. Single hopped (Idaho 7) and lacks complexity. 6.2% of meh. Definitely not worth the £3.75 price from Waitrose. Didn’t finish.
