Handpump cask at the Apollo pub in Marylebone into a half-pint.
A: Clear pale gold body; thin, very sticky white head. Super pale, even for a self-identifying pale ale.
S: Piney, sappy, herbal hops. Kind of wet doggy, but not too bad. Light citrus and caramel as it warms. Not great, but not terrible.
T: Follows the nose in large part - piney and fruity hops start things off, with melon and pineapple sweetness balancing a bitterly hoppy finish. A little unbalanced, but I like the sheer craziness of flavor going on in this kind of session beer.
M: Light-to-medium body, low carbonation.
O: Not a great beer, but an enjoyable and memorable one nonetheless. THe Cascade and Liberty hops provide plenty of character, but they aren't put to the best use when it comes to balance and harmony. THe fruitiness was almost off-putting it was so intense and surprising.
Cheers!
