Served on cask and dispensed into an English half pint pot at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - Jan '12
First off the name - not what "I'd" necessarily call an 'American IPA', hence I have listed as an English IPA!
Pours to a clear golden hue with a small white head, looks just the ticket when held up to the light!
Lots of hops in the aroma for an English IPA (but again - let's not mistake this for an American hop bomb in ANY WAY!), sweet malt on the nose and also citrus notes
Toasted malts, orange/grapefruit flavour amongst the hopping and a little caramel, a fairly sweet finish with little in the way of bitterness
A medium bodied beer with just the right level of carbonation
In summary a good beer with a little hop kick - but not of the variety you'd get over the pond, so don't be disappointed in the respect!
And to sign off the review, some notes from the brewer . . . . . "Based on a secret Michigan recipe, this original American IPA contains the highest quality malts, combining pale, Munich, Caramalt and pale Crystal malts producing a world class ale which is golden orange in colour, showing complex hoppy aromas with floral and citrus tones with a long lingering finish".

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
