Tasted by a half-pint at Devonshire Cat, Sheffield, on 13/03/07. Served by a handpump with a sparkler.
A: bright amber hue, coming with a creamy white froth and very low fizziness.
S: slightly buttery and creamy maltiness abounds, backed by very restrained presence of fruits and hoppyness. Simplistic, but very fresh.
T: lightly-roasted and crystal malts prevail upfront, while a nice tinge of sourness also from malts (I guess) stays closely behind; leading towards a profound aftertaste full of malt's biscuity flavour+aroma, laced with hop bitterness, sour-ish raw nuts, and a lengthy finish of hops, rather chewy in mouthfeel.
M&D: the good lingering malty aftertaste and subtle-but-deep-running bitterness make this medium-minus-bodied and soft ale a very quaffable, malty sample of bitter.
