Appearance- A very basic looking beer. Orange but sort of yellow amber with not much lace or head

Smell- A very good aroma made up for what it lacked in looks. There was a strong fruity and pumpkin smell. A strong but not too strong smell of the spices was also very apparent.

Taste- Mostly a malty and spicy beer with a lot of pumpkin fruitiness to it. The spices are just right though not too much or too little as with alot pumpkin spice beers.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied and slightly oily with not much carbonation. The body is on the border of light and medium. It is also well carbonated.

Drinkability- A very nice seasonal. I love pumpkin beer if it is done right and this is one of my favorites.

Eli's isn't a bottled brew. It's made specially for Eli Cannon's a pub in Middletown, CT (I called to ask) by Shipyard. While I expect it is an honest mistake, the shipyard pumpkin the previous reviewer is describing wasn't Eli's Pumpkin Patch but a different variety (Shipyard Pumpkinhead?). Though I have not had in years since I moved away, has remained my all-time favorite pumpkin beer. On my next trip back I'll leave a proper review.

This beer is contract brewed by Shipyard for Eli Cannon's Tap Room in Middletown, CT.

Appearance is very light orange. Light shines brightly through the glass and illuminates it in translucent orange color. Head is off-white/orangey and bubbly, and sinks quickly. Aroma is distinct pumpkin, a bit on the sweet side. There is no discernible nutmeg or cinnamon coming through. Flavor is also distinctly pumpkin, which IMO keeps this beer true to the style. Some other pumpkin ales are overpowered by the spices, while this one is true pumpkin. It's like drinking a slice of pumpkin pie. Mouthfeel is a bit watery, and the flavor may lean too much to the sweet side for some, but this is the best pumpkin ale I've had.
