12/30...pulled from the back of the fridge. Completely clear gold, see through, some white foam. Light straw smell, grainy. Watery taste, light malt, subtle sweetness. Long finish, very little bite. Basically a light lager with a touch more flavor.

Half finger head with poor retention and some lacing on a clear bright golden body. Aroma is standard grains, pale malts and sweet corn. Flavors also of grains, barley, sweet corn and a musty almost mobile hop bitterness. Light body and high carbonation, crisp. Standard light beer. Not much to say good or bad.

Into a pint glass:

A: light gold color with a very thin white head that fades very quickly

S: light malts, caramel and a touch of hops

T: sweet through flavors of caramel and a decent malt character, hops help bring a good balance

M: light, crisp, clean finish, watery aftertaste

O: it does the trick for what Shipyard wanted, for me, a "lawnmower" beer

From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of May 09. Sampled on August 7, 2009. Light beers are something you either like or you don't. So I try to rate them on their merits for the style. The pour is pale yellow with decent clarity. The aroma is quite malty for a light. The taste is malty and a bit corny. It is bolder than most lights.

my disappointment with hometown brewer shipyard is consistent with this highly overpriced fizz.

tried it at the brewery, on tap, and was pleasantly surprised. thinking back, the gift shop girl--who asserted that this beer is made from english 2-row malt and euro hops--must have poured a different beer as the coloring and malt character was not what was in the bottles that i bought, for $9 6-pack.

the reviewer above who said the beer is strange is right on. it smells weird; probably due to using ale yeast instead of lager yeast, which shipyard avoids, probably because ales are faster (cheaper) to make.

want a good light beer? sam adams light is great; a true lager using 2-row malt. hate to say it, but even heineken light is better than this offering.

shipyard, no more.

Golden color topped with a thin white head that evaporates quickly. The aroma isn't much different than that of a typical light beer. Relatively smooth drinking, malty, grain taste but there isn't much there. Better than your average light beer though.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a very thin white head that fades very quickly and leaves very little lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of light malts, caramel and a touch of hops.

T: The taste has some sweetness to it from flavors of caramel and a decent malt character, rather than the adjunct sweetness that you typically get other beers with the word "light" in their name. There's a mild hops presence that brings a little bit of balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light body, high carbonation, clean finish.

D: A little tasty, goes down easily, not filling at all, very mild kick, this beer is perfect on a night when I want to take it really slow, aside from that however, it's not one that I would seek out.

Bought at Tim's Little Big Store in Old Town. Obviously past its prime as it was part of the bargain bin.

Pours clean yellow with little head as one expects from the style.

Nothing too distinguishing from the smell, and sadly the same for the taste, very light hop flavor and the beer is slightly more buttery than other light beers.

Not much better than the mass produced light beers, but it is slightly better. This light beer still won't compel me to ever switch.
