From the 12 fl. oz bottle dated 04-26-2016. Sampled on September 14, 2016 several months after it was bottled.
Handsome looking medium amber pour under a modest off-white head and fairly good clarity.
Aroma of toasted caramel and pale malts, mild sweetness, Shipyard yeast, and a slight earthiness.
Light to medium body.
The taste is sweet and malt forward with a mild earthy bitterness to finish. Decently balanced. It has some ESB-like characters.

Solid golden color with a huge beige head with great retention and leaving strong laces.
Aroma with notes of wood, mild tequila, wheat and oranges.
Flavor with predominant notes of tequila, oak, tangerine citrusy from its Saphir hops and white bread. Dry aftertaste with a low to medium bitterness and a lingering agave note.
Light towards medium body with somewhat effervescent carbonation
I had low expectations on this given the Cancun related label and the idea that an American Wheat in Tequila barrels could turn-out terribly wrong. But this came out quite nice; the tequila wasn’t overdone and did not felt artificial. The tangerine from the Saphir hop felt fresh and went well with the recipe.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip.
Appearance: Pours a hazy, somewhat glowy orange/gold with a thin crown of white foam.
Aroma: Citrus, honey, wheat, and some booze in the nose.
Taste: Taste follows the nose - the citrus and wheat are right there, and the tequila is noticeable on the finish. A little bit of orange, or perhaps orange peel, is noticeable. Tasty.
Mouthfeel: Pretty summery and light, like their summer ale.
Overall: So this is a tequila barrel-aged version of their summer wheat ale. I like it! Probably the best beer I've had from Shipyard. Complex and flavorful, but still an approachable summer beer.
