Transcribed from Notes of 12/10/06, tasted by a half-pint at the Black Bull, a family-owned free house in East End London dedicated to Nethergates Ales.
A: dark straw-ish yellow in colour, coming with a thin foam, great clarity, and low carbonation.
S: light grapefruity hops sit on top of the secondary layer of pale malts, salty sweet yeastiness, and a tinge of sweet lemons.
T: grapefruit-zests and mildly salty-sweet biscuity & lager malts come together refreshing; fast turning zesty bitter, with hop tannins, mild gingery & lemony tang soothingly rubbing the sides of the tongue; finished with good lingering bitterness and some biscuity aroma.
M&D: softly-carbonated, light-bodied, hop-dominated, showing a superb length of bitterness All in all, this ale shows an unconventional mixture of hops for Nethergate, and making it all the more enjoyable and quaffable!
