Tried by a half pint recently at the John Russell Fox, a JDW in Andover, during the chain's beer festival. Non-sparkler poured.
A: a dark amber hue comes with a very thin beige foam and low carbonation, leaving tight lacing.
S: richly nectar and flowery in aroma, suggesting a good dose of hops, skirted with hays and some yeastiness. Overall, very Nethergate-like with the yeasty touch, but apparently quite hoppy even by Nethergate's usual standards.
T: the initial intake of Nethergate's tart-woody yeastiness gradually gives way to the lightly toasted as well as chocolatey malts, floral hops, and an astringent taste of berry fruits... leading towards a long, powdery bitter finish that cuts through the palate, while the malt aroma and berry fruitiness are never far away.
M&D: for one, I really enjoy Nethergate's yeastiness and the evolving flavour structure shown in this brew. Despite being slightly light-bodied, the deep and lasting bitterness makes up for it and results in a more-ish palate overall.
