Petite mort is a euphemism for orgasm in French—a wonderfully clever name for a beer.
Multiple pours were necessary for this beer even though it was only half in a wine glass. Looks like a nitro pour. The lacing (a fine bubble blanket) is like a nitro pour. The liquid is dark brown where no light passes.
Deep dark chocolate smell. Some alcohol, light berry, and chalk to the nose.
The taste is darker than the smell and more ashen. There’s a little sweetness but the darker elements prevail. Some vanilla and berry light (and dry) caramel. There’s a bitterness from the presence of black patent malt but there isn’t any coffee overtones at all. Long burnt malt aftertaste.
