I had this on tap at the brewery. Poured into a normal pint glass. Dark color, with some hints of brown when held up to the light. Nice head retention with good lacing.
Nice aroma, some hoppiness with an unexpected Belgian yeast note. Apparently they are using a Belgian strain, so Black IPA may be somewhat inappropriate for classification. Could use more fresh hop aroma
Taste-A nice balance between the yeast notes, smokey/roasted malt, and fresh hop bitterness and flavor. Nice mouth feel, full bodied. It could use a little more roasted malt flavor, but over all I enjoyed this quite a bit.

On tap at Euclid Hall in Denver.
Served cold into a large fluted glass, IFB is indeed nearly black with hints of brown around the edges. The head is short and weak with no lace to speak of.
Aroma is mildly hoppy but not anything near an IPA. Roast is more dominant in the nose.
The same can be said for the flavor. It has a nice roasty malt base that has been heavily hopped. Unfortunately, it seems most of that must have been towards the begining of the boil because I don't get much hop aroma. I would be abt to describe it as a hopped up porter.
Mouthfeel is nice and being on tap probably contributes to that. It's smooth and low in carbonation.
Overall a tasty beer but it doesn't quite live up to my expectations for this style. Better hop aroma would have gone a long way towards making this beer a winner.
