Our Belgo-Style Black IPA is an exquisite fusion of black roasted chocolate malts, and a generous heap of hops. Bitterly aggressive with fruity esters and a savory aroma making this one superior brew.

Deep dark brown, almost black body topped with a one-finger thick creamy tan head. Heady hop aroma; spicy; dark roasted malt scent (perhaps with a touch of chocolate malt). Charred toast with a mellowing sweetness and a tingling hop bitterness. Medium-light body; clean; mostly dry finish with a soft sweet edge at the finish.
A delicious, pretty nicely balanced black IPA. Bold hop flavor combined with a sweet but not overdone malt sweetness.

Black liquid; ruby at the edges.
Very little head & lacing.
Smells very creamy, like a milk stout.
No hops present in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Flavor is of a milk porter, with a faint whiff o' hops on the back end.
Not really a black IPA since the hops are so subdued, but actually a tasty beer. Would have again.

Pours a black color. One inch head of an off-tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, roasted malt, hint of coffee, slight alcohol, and hops. Fits the style of an American Black Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of hops, hint of pine, strong roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of coffee, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, stronger aroma than body, but still a good beer that was quite bitter.

Served from a 16oz can to pint.
A- Upon cracking the can the contents immediately began repainting my ceiling in a near comic book fashion. Full blown gusher. I think that maybe it got so jostled in transit that this happened so I left the other 3 in my fridge for about a week before round two. Sadly round two yielded similar results. Once I got the half of the can I was left with in a pint it looked like tan foam with about 1/4in black liquid in the bottom.
S-Citrus green olives with rapidly degassing C02
T- I think the nucleation stripped any and all of the hop notes. The smell of green olives was so overpowering that I really couldn't taste past it.
M- Foam followed by flat beer
O- I won't be dropping $10 on a four pack again to find out if this was an aberration or not.

Almost the last of Blargimus' huge package and I CANnot say that I saved the best for last without fear of being called out as a liar. My apologies, but I am like Sam I Am in that I do not like Cascadian/Black IPAs as a general rule. I do not like them on a train, I do not like them on a plane and I certainly do not like them in the rain. Such is the nature of The CANquest (TM) in that I try everything and try to give each beer a fair shake but some begin on an incline.
From the CAN: "E-CLIPSE (i-klips) Partial or complete obscuring of one celestial body by another [with their logo obscuring the QR code]".
The Crack & Glug came off without a hitch and I quickly had a glassful of ink topped by just over a finger of dense, deep-tan head with good retention. Color was a deep, dark-brown that allowed ZERO light penetration. Even the white bits was black! Nose had more of a chocolate/coffee/roastiness than anything else, but I could sense the hops in the background. Mouthfeel was full, approaching creaminess and the taste was a commingling of (perhaps?) pine/minty hops with all of the dark malt that could be mustered up. Finish was roasty, but the hops seemed to get lost in the darkness. I am sorry, but leave your dark malts out of my hoppy beers. I am hard-pressed to know how to review this as even the style description is vague.

A thanks goes out to woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, a touch of sweetness. Taste is well balanced roasted malts and hops, a bit of coffee is present. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

A - Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a two-finger, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy rings of sticky lace on the glass.
S - It smelled piney with some citrus notes. Toasty aromas, too.
T - It tasted of bitter piney hops with grapefruit and mango notes. Strong roasted malt character that is reminiscent of a porter.
M - It was crisp and sharp. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.
O - This is a really tasty canned black ale. One of the best I've had from Crabtree.
