My bottle of Czecko was completely uncarbonated. You couldn't coax a bubble with a straw. No lace, no head, no life. It was pale straw gold with modest clarity, a generic aroma, and a bland, unfocussed amalgamation of... whatever. It's not worth describing, let alone drinking. I'd simply call it a run-of-the-mill homebrew that's not ready for prime time.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with riversideAK (thanks!).

Poured a medium and slightly hazy yellow color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of citrus / citrus rinds, grains, and lighter grassiness. Tastes of citrus, spices, some doughiness, and grainy.

This is one of the offerings from a rather new brewery out of Tulalip, WA. From the bottle, this pours a hazy gold with a thick, sudsy head that recedes slowly. The bouquet is a mix of dough and apples, and the doughiness comes through in the flavor as well, emerging as a pronounced butteriness. The body is rounded out by a slight fruitiness--again, apple.

What's lacking here is the crisp finish that I expect in a pilsener. The length of this brew is so consistent that it has the texture of an American blonde ale rather than a true pils. Ultimately, this undermines the beer by taking away that quick hoppy finish which makes pilseners so (in my mind) refreshing. It's rare that I want a beer to lose some length and body, but here, the length is actually a characteristic of Czecko's imbalance. Eventually it just starts to taste a little slimey.

A mixed result overall for this brew from Aldergrove. With so many fine pilseners on the market these days, it's hard to see why I would go back to this one.

Appearance – This was a clear, pretty yellow in color with a faint orangish tinge. The carbonation wasn’t bad but the white head was somewhat subdued for the style.

Smell – This beer smells like fucking butterscotch! ‘Nuff said.

Taste – OK, butterscotch with stale seltzer water.

Mouthfeel – This is light-bodied with a cheap fizzle.

Sinkability – This stale, stinky, rotten “Pils” met an early much-deserved death in the sink.
