Am a big fan of Skagit River beers and I miss their stuff dearly here on the East Coast.
Had on tap at the recent HardLiver BarleyWine festival.
The beer pours a dark amber color with little head rention or laciing (again, very typical of bourbon barrel aged beers). On the nose I get an intriguing aroma of sweet malt and dark bitter chocolate. The aroma is very, very intriguing on this beer. The flavors on the palate replicate the nose and I get an incredible burst of bitter sweet chocolate. The beer is no more then moderately sweet, is medium bodied and finishes very nicely. It's not too heavy for a BW, and was one of the more interesting beers I sampled at the festival (or I probaly wouldn't have bothered to review it - there were just too many beers that day).
Nice effort from Skagit River.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
