Skagit continues to surprise me. They brew low gravity beers, plenty of lagers, and now a schwarz. Black Jack appears black at a casual glance, but there's a deep garnet hue if you look for it. Lace forms liberally on the glass.
The taste features clean lager character with light graininess, dark maltiness, and a touch of molasses. The sensible finish knows not to linger.
Smooth bodied, enjoyable, and unexpected.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured not quite black, with a medium tan head that dissipated quickly leaving moderate lacing.
The aroma is basic Lager grain with a pleasant roastiness over the front and a tickle of hops on the finish. The taste confirmed the aromas, grainy base, roast highlights and a deft touch of hops on the end.
Body was was nicely solid for a light beer like this. Drinkability is very good, having several would be a pleasant way to spend a session at the pub. Certainly worth a shot if you see it.
