I had this on tap at BCTC served chilled, allowed to warm. The ale was aged in French oak casks.
A - A medium brown w/ a lot of small bubbles making up a light tan head
S - A woozy and cranberry odor, gentle sour w/ vanilla, subtle pepper and slightly beefy odors.
M - A sour feel w/ toasted oak notes. The acidity is there w/ tannic vinous quality, almost chalky w/ a hint of bitterness complementing the juicy berry fruit sweetness
T - Wonderful sour flavor w/ balance of oak and nice dry fruit flavor of cherry w/ worcestershire-like sour quality. There is some toasted malt notes and vanilla complexity from the french oak. I picked up on some tinges of bitter orange in the finish.
D - Not top on my list as far as drinkability, but perhaps not sour enough with the oak sucking some tartness away. A complex ale w/ plenty of sour flavor and very nicely complemented by the oak
