Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, nuts anddrip coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a touch of char, hazelnuts, light vanilla, cocoa and coffee. Lingering light nutty and coffee finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A wonderfully balanced stout that has very clear hazelnut and coffee notes, but the nuts, coffee and vanilla are all in harmony. The light char of the malt and coffee are particularly well integrated. Unlike many nut infused stouts, the hazelnuts are clearly identifiable to variety in the flavor (more generic nuts in the aroma). The flavor is full at the beginning of the taste and thins out a little bit in the end, but leaves a satisfying coffee finish like a hazelnut latte. Very nicely done.
