Few oak trees are lucky enough to become Port barrels. Fewer are then lucky enough to be aged in Woodinville Whiskey Co. barrels. But only the luckiest get to store our imperial stout for 18 months, which we then blended in 10% of out barleywine. Lucky you!

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa, oak and whiskey. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, espresso coffee, bakers chocolate, whiskey and a hint of fortified wine. Nice charry mocha finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A rich, dark malty stout with surprisingly robust coffee flavor. I'd think this was a coffee stout in a blind tasting. Quite whiskey forward, but only a hint of the Port barrels and not much of the barleywine, which I would have enjoyed, but really isn't necessary because this is full flavored enough as it is. The aftertaste is full of oaky whiskey and coffee notes. Nicely done and flavorful.

On tap.
L: Black body. Very soft, large foamy head.
S: Boozy, a bit leathery. Caramel, dark fruits, pretty sweet.
T: There’s that booze. Roasted caramel malt, hints of cherry and plum that bring sweetness, whisky, dark chocolate, vanilla, oats on the finish and a bit of coffee. In fact, that coffee and coco really come out on the finish, and add some bitterness. Lots of flavors.
F: Incredible. Super smooth and creamy, quite thick.
O: Delicious. The feel is fantastic, just what I like for a big stout. The barrel aged profile is a compliment to the other flavors. Very well balanced bitterness and sweetness. Really good big beer.
