Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a moderately hazy, medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and lightly dank hops, lemon, orange, grapefruit, mixed tropical fruit and a spot of dankness. Flavor is citrus and lightly piney hops, orange, mixed tropical fruit, grapefruit and light pine; mixed fruit esters, grapefruit and mild pine in the finish. Moderate bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Well I was attracted to this because of it's great local cause and the name seemed to indicate a traditional IPA, but when it poured hazy, I was a bit surprised. It does fit the profile of a NW hazy, which has some of the softness, fruit and a lowered bitterness like a NE IPA, but with more Western hops. The finish bitterness is just enough to keep me interested and the hop bill is quite nice, centering on citrus, but including some pine and fruitiness too. A bit tame compared to the current fresh hops, but I enjoyed it and appreciated it wasn't a low bitterness hazy.
